Flattening machine designed to flatten the faces of the pieces of wood exposed to the action of its cutting tool. Operated manually, the continuous back-and-forth movement of the plate and the cutting tool performs a depression, cutting the material of the part to be flattened.
Originally this machine could have belonged to the Companhia Nacional, which has two workshop complexes, one in Mirandela and another in Viseu. The date of its introduction is unknown, but in 1915 the workshop of Mirandela was probably equipped with machines and tools that would allow it to carry out maintenance and repair of the rolling stock and the construction or assembly of vans and new vehicles with great autonomy.
