Love charm

20th century

Love potions and charms are still widely used across the world. Made in the Netherlands, this love charm is rich in magical symbolism. Painted onto an oyster shell to ensure fertility, the charm was produced for a couple whose first initials were ‘J’ and ‘R’. Red thread binds these letters together while a pair of touching hearts represents their love. Above these letters are the couple’s star signs: for Taurus and for Gemini.
