Oval-shaped, milky quartz cameo of President Rutherford B. Hayes. Setting appears to be carnelian; silver rope border; 4 large "old mine" cut diamonds at compass points; back has a spring pin & clasp closure and small hook at top; engraved in script on the back at the top "L. Zoellner 835 B'way N.Y." and around lower portion of rim "L.W.H. from R.B. H."

Zoellner of New York. The setting with the four diamonds was manufactured by Randel Baremore Co. Most of the correspondence and other transactions were handled by Webb C. Hayes.
