Optical projector, a precursor of the cinematograph, known as a magic lantern. This piece of equipment comprises a dark chamber with a set of lenses and a sliding mount where images painted on glass were inserted. These lanterns were originally lit with candles and oil lamps. In this case, the lantern uses artificial light in the form of an incandescent light bulb, so it has to be connected to an electric circuit.
