Malevich's Mannequin is a work that is untypical for the artist's oeuvre; it was created as a result of his fascination with space and extraterrestial civilisation. Lutyński was particularly interested in the aspect of human dreams of conquest and expansion. A child's mannequin in a multicoloured costume is an allusion to the Russian painter Kazimir Malevich. The figurative paintings of the suprematist from the 1930s often feature faceless figures whose bodies are divided into colourful segments.
