This painting depicts a mallet and a precious orb, drawn in one sitting with thick brushwork. The border lines are almost equal, and aura like a burning flame is depicted above the orb with smeared paint, creating a sense of vigor and energy. All sides of the painting are filled, but because the top of the flames is cut off, it may be the case that the original composition was larger. Other works with brushwork as bold as this were owned by Rokuonji Temple, known as Kinkaku-ji, including a painting of a precious orb and dried abalone known as "Tama Noshi". It is thought that these works were created to hang in Buddhist temples, and give the large rooms a feeling of impressiveness.
