Fukuda Art Museum

Fukuda Art Museum
Kyoto, Japan

The Fukuda Art Museum posesses a collection that consists of approximately 1,800 items, prinmarily Japanese paintings dating from Edo period (1603 - 1868) to the modern era. The concept of the Fukuda Collection is to have excellent pieces of work that are inspirational and appealing even to those who are not familiar with arts. We are focusing on the painters of Kyoto, in particular, including many works that are being shown for the first time in decades as well as works that were known to exist but had been missing for many years.

The Fukuda Art Museum is located in Saga Arashiyama, which has long served a source of inspiration for superb art, associated with poetry since ancient times and loved by nobles and cultured people. Today, as one of Japan's leading tourist destinations, the area ttracts sightseers from all over the world. Along with scenery that changes from season to season, Arashiyama is blessed with the flowing waters of the limpid Oigawa River, and Togetsu Bridge, which seamlessly blends into the surrounding landscape. By creating a place to view works by some of Japan's greatest artists on this site, a product of the beautiful natural landscape, we hope to make a positive contribution to the transmission and succession of Japanese culture.
