In this work, Corro uses the most frequent technique in Spanish miniature painting: highlighting the body curves and filling it in with patches of color, while the face is shaped with soft dotting. / Dark colors and blue tones predominate, so the bright red waistcoat catches observers’ eye. The technical treatment on the wall is outstanding and it reminds us vaguely of photography techniques. / It is a special case within miniature portraits because the support, an artificial ivory sheet, is thicker than usual in these works. The size of the portrait and the repousée leather frame leads us to think that the idea was to hang it in a room in the house, maybe even in the bedroom or boudoir of the subject's wife.
