The map, dating from 1650, depicts the Indian Ocean and the lands around it including East Africa, Madagascar, Arabia, India, Sri Lanka, South East Asia, Indonesia, New Guinea and the west coast of Australia. The islands and shoals in the Indian Ocean are depicted in detail. China, Korea and part of Japan are appear at upper right corner. The west coast of Cape York and parts of the west and south coasts of Australia appear at lower right corner with Dutch place names. Australia is entitled 'Terra des Zur'.
