The appearances by the Reich Labor Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst) were staged in a clearly military spirit – but at the Party Rallies, shovels took the place of rifles. They demonstrated the fealty of thousands of potential "soldiers of labor" fit for military service. The Nazi Party Rallies were held at the Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg from 1933 to 1938. These were elaborate propaganda events intended to impress the public and present the National Socialists’ concept of themselves.
