The inspiration for this drawing came from Tadeusz Kulisiewicz's trip to Mexico, and the sketch for it can be found in one of the sketchbooks he brought back from the country. The motive of the anthropomorphic mask with a disturbing expression is placed against a gray, uniform background. The features of the face are geometric, shown asymmetrically. The face is contorted — from the left, a triangular eyeball stares out, while the right side reveals an empty eye socket. The nose is defined by a vertical line running from the forehead, and the wide, bared teeth evoke a hysterical laugh, giving the face an air of madness. The mask resembles a skull — such masks are characteristic of Mexican culture and rituals associated with All Saints' Day.
