Mat

Rectangular mat consisting of six square appliqués in blue satin alternating with an equal number of embroidered net. The satin squares are embroidered in polychrome tones with encroaching stitching with three different repeating floral motifs. On the front these appliqués are lined in claret silk damascus. The squares of netting made with large mesh are decorated with a fillet stitch, straight darning stitch, crossed darning stich, guipure leaves and spiralling and triangular guipure to make geometric motifs, leaves and rosettes. The border is finished with a lace edging in the same netting with stepped edges.
