Ashaninka leaders wear amatsairentsis, crowns made from reeds and decorated with colored thread and macaw (Ara sp.) feathers, as symbols of their elevated social status.
Also important is the chobinarontsi, a kind of hood made from cotton and feathers from the blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), used in the past by community leaders.
