The well-preserved towers and ramparts of the Maglič Castle, with a palace and a church, rise on the dominant rock of the western massif of Stolovo. A smaller older fortification was built at the beginning of the 13th century on this strategically important place, above the right bank of the Ibar, at the place where the river makes a big bend. It was expanded over time and during the fourth decade of the 14th century was finally shaped by the care of the famous Serbian archbishop Danilo II. Until the end of the 17th century, the Turkish crew provided important communication through the Ibar Valley.
