Primera meditación is both a collection of experiences and a self-portrait. It is the first of a series of large drawings in which coexist, on the same support and with the same media, a series of spaces and objects that describe my close experiences. Each fragment of this work takes something that I lived in the last year and gives it space and time. Space, because it expands on the support, taking up its specific place, and time, because the form in which the work is composed at first sight invites us to read it in a paused and almost episodic way, to later, after the first impression, dig into the surface of objects and discover a closed and rich story. Even in the most puzzling moments, it keeps an aesthetic unity that allows it to survive as a unique and total drawing. It is my most ambitious work so far, both for its scale and the complexity in its composition and technique. Source: Itaú Cultural Visual Arts Award 2019-2020 Catalogue
