Megaloxantha bicolor belongs to the family Buprestidae of the order Coleoptera. Found in India, Thailand, Malaysia and other places, it is the largest species of the family with a maximum body length of 8.3cm. Buprestidae are very beautiful beetles whose body surface shines with colorful metallic luster, therefore also known as "rainbow eyes". In India, its forewings are cut into small rounds and used as decorations for girls to paste on their foreheads.
