Megasoma mars

The Latin word "Megasoma" means huge body, while "Mars" means the god of war. Adults are dark and bright, and males have well-developed head horns and slender thoracic horns extending obliquely to the left and right. Native to Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Guyana and other places in Central and South America, it is mainly found in the Amazon River Basin. It is one of the typical representatives of large Dynastinae.
