Christ is depicted as Salvator Mundi (Saviour of the World). Opposite him, Lord Raas van Haamstede, his wife, children and son-in-law are kneeling. The text refers to the Battle for Holland and Zeeland, which was decided on 19 November 1426 near Brouwershaven. There is some confusion about the identity of the noblemen who were killed in the battle. Probably the Raas van Haamstede portrayed here was not the one to die that day, but rather his cousin of the same name. There is no certainty about the painter.
