The use of compact alignments of stakes reveals the skilful balance between an abstraction of textures and an architectural sense of the surroundings. It rejects mere mimicry with traditional schist masonry or the stereotomic authenticity of granite walls which Eduardo Souto Moura made use of in some of his most emblematic projects.
