Corta Atalaya was an open-pit mine that opened in 1907 and closed in 1994, and mainly produced copper. At its peak, it was the largest mine in Europe and one of the most ambitious projects taken on by the Rio Tinto Company Limited. Ministry of Labor and Social Security
