Monstera deliciosa

Monstera is Latin for “monstrous,” which relates to the format and size of its leaves, and deliciosa because it offers a very flavorful edible fruit. This species is useful for the construction of tools of basketry, craftsmanship, and furniture, in addition to having a cultural and economic value among the traditional communities of the Tacaná Volcano, in Mexico. The species is typical to the forest of the Hidalgo Mountains, a Mexican ecosystem threatened by deforestation.
