Many travelers rested up at this station, celebrating having been able to cross over the Hakone Pass. In the central part of the station is one of the shrines of Izu Province, Mishima Myojin (now the Mishima Shrine). The illustration is of the scene in front of the first entrance gate, the townscape veiled in the morning mist, but the palanquin and packhorse are conferred with detailed coloring.
