Her gaze is pointing downwards and the facial expression seems to exude emotions of sadness and melancholy. The woman seems to be facing three young children. Two of them lie on the floor and are wrapped in blankets. The third child, a girl, wears a dress and is in huddled position. A picture of the Virgin Mary is leaning inside the window sill and there is a lit lamp in front of it. In the lower right there is the signature of the creator. At the bottom of the frame bears a metal sign stating: "Mana Kalabritini Aglaia Kyriacopoulou-Kanellopoulou ".
