Fang Wei-wen was born on the island of Chinmen (an offshore island located a few miles from Mainland China) but at a young age his family emigrated to Brunei where he became a member of the overseas Chinese Diaspora. Fang later completed his graduate studies in art in Taiwan and settled down here. This installation work is autobiographical, presented in the form of a diary. The human figure made from rattan represents Fang Wei-wen himself, empty and hanging in the air. He uses things collected in daily life as testaments to existence. These appear like a confused confession lacking order or format. All he can do is mutter to himself about the things around him and the more he talks the more things pour forth, filling the space.
