(bayberry), shrub, deciduous (in North) to semi-evergreen upright-rounded and fairly dense shrub, actually habit varies depending on habitat, suckers and forms large colonies, near the ocean a low straggly windswept shrub but in the Midwest it forms a large irregular colonizing mass, average height is about 9' but it ranges from 5-12' tall and wide, major suckering
