Miguelina Acosta Cardenas (Yurimaguas 1887- Lima 1933), one of the first Peruvian lawyers to litigate, obtained a doctorate in law with the thesis "Necessary reforms of the Peruvian common civil code aimed at making effective the civil and legal equality of men and women". In this text, Acosta sought to influence the Peruvian reality by advocating for the modification of the legal differences between women and men. The author is also known for her union and social activism, as well as her colaborations in periodic publications and her educative labor.
