This handwritten program for the Neutral Bay Regatta, held on 1 January 1857, offers an insight into the organisation of early colonial regattas in Sydney. Regattas varied in size from large commemorative celebrations to small local events. This program for a local community regatta features races for rowing and sculling boats, with only one sailing race. It lists the entrants, colours and prize money to be awarded. As most regatta programs were printed this is a rare example of a handwritten program.
