Abriliberdade [Apriliberty]

Since adopting acrylic paint, Pomar developed a Pop-inspired graphic vocabulary in his works, applying opaque colours and defining the elements as if they were cut out. At the same time, his painting took on an erotic dimension, explored through both the themes and the material sensuality of the canvas and colour. In this painting, Eros and Revolution are fused, and eroticism becomes the driving force that brings together the celebration of artistic freedom and political freedom, highlighted by the red carnation, symbol of 25 April 1974.
