Fan with pierced ivory sticks, the guards with a design of dolphins, crown and fleur de lis motifs.

The single vellum leaf is painted on the recto with a seated female in 'antique' dress. A figure in armour stands beside. The figures may represent Louis XIV of France with Marie Thérese and their son the Dauphin.
The figure on the left resembles Anne of Austria, King Louis' mother.

The verso is painted with a scattering of blooms on a dark background.
