In 1926, the largest paper of the time measuring 5.4 square meters was produced as “Okafutokami” wall paper for Waseda University Library. Taikan Yokoyama and Kanzan Shimura painted the work Meian (Light and Shadow) on this paper. And with that it was shown that in size washi vastly outdid both silk and Chinese paper.
