Ratified in 1965 by CND, the women of the region of Vale do Paraíba got together in 1969 to try to bring down the decreet. One of the members of the movement, Luci, who wore the jersey number 10 of Ponte Preta de Jacareí team , declared that their goal was to "stop this hateful discrimination". It's also important to highlight that since 1941 women were already forbidden to practice any sports that were "against their nature": that was determined by Article 54 of the law-decreet 3199, signed by Getúlio Vargas.
