The tea stall in the title of the work was a simple tea shop set up between stations, where travelers, porters and others could take a break. The scene is of palanquin bearers and couriers just as they’re lighting up cigarettes. A kettle is hanging from a rope slung over a tree branch. Next to the palanquins there’s a landmark sign, and at the end of the highway Fukuroi station can be seen.
