A newspaper article in 1987 served to highlight both the interest shown by visitors and the lapses committed by the city. For decades visitors to Nuremberg found it hard to get information about the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds – which was surprising, given the site's great importance during the National Socialist era. After all, from 1933 to 1938 this area had hosted the Nazi Party Rallies – elaborate propaganda events intended to impress the public and to display the National Socialists' concept of themselves.
