Painting of King Jeongjo’s historic visit to Hwaseong

The painting shows a scene of King Jeongjo’s ceremonial visit to the royal tomb of Hyeollyungwon in Hwaseong where his father, Crown Prince Sado (1735-1762), was buried. The visit was made in 1795 as part of the celebration of the sixtieth birthday of his mother, Queen Gyeongui (a.k.a. Royal Lady Hyegyeonggung Hong, 1735-1815).
