On a hill, above a town that once belonged to the Cistercians and then to the Prussian state, there stands an extraordinary castle. Its construction was commissioned by Marianna of Orange, a Dutch princess whose parents, expelled from the Netherlands by Napoleon, settled in Prussia. She took great care of this place, and the beautiful terrace gardens are also to her credit. According to legend, she became so attached to Kamieniec that she still haunts the castle and the surrounding area to this day.
