The invention of the paper doll satisfies the desire for people to do what they want with beautiful objects, while expressing the expansion of self-consciousness. If papers dolls were not depictions of perfect people or didn’t have perfect figures and clear lines, but were instead completely naked ,when they could be a, a friend,a stranger, or even ourselves, how would we look at them? How would we view our own desire to control the value of others? As part of the process by which the artist allows customers at Pixie figurine store to interact with the piece, a contrast is established between - a large/small, real/virtual dichotomy - between the figures in the store and the piece. This is then used to describe an acceptance of our own value in today’s society, the intangible external expression and internal desire for power.
