On the edge of the Riachuelo, a strange peninsula formed by the Avellaneda district, where the conurbation gets inside the Capital city by just a few square meters, we find the Club Victoriano Arenas. One of the first women’s football teams that fought for the creation of the women’s professional football league belongs to it. Right there, on the other side of the Riachuelo, surrounding this peninsula, is the 21-24 area, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires City. On one side, the fight for equal rights, on the other, the raw exposure of a society that leaves the ones pushed away by the system on the edge of a contaminated river. I pursued this image for almost a year, until I could formalize my visit to the club. My intention as an artist in my series Coordenadas de la vida cotidiana, to which this image belongs, is to use photograph as a mean to question us. How do we occupy the spaces? Do we own them or do they own our behaviors?. Third Acquisition Prize – Itaú Visual Arts Award. Source: Itaú Cultural Visual Arts Award 2019-2020 Catalogue
