The NSW Youth Partnership with Pacific Communities (YPPC) was a whole-of-government and whole-of-community approach to address the needs of Pacific communities from 2005 to 2007. An annual Pasifika Youth Day was established to strengthen pride in culture and provide pathways to leadership for young people. The YPPC was a $3.5m initiative, focusing on improving the well-being of Pacific young people and their families, due to difficulties in accessing services and poor education and employment prospects. The Department of Education’s Flexible Learning Partnership and the NSW Police Integrated Case Management were the two largest projects that benefited the community. Multicultural NSW continues to work with Pacific communities to strengthen capacity and address issues.
