This zinc bust of Patrick Henry was made by the firm, Warner, Miskey and Merill, of Philadelphia after the original terracotta bust executed from life by an Italian artist in 1788.

Warner, Miskey, and Merrill were a manufacturing firm founded in Philadelphia as Archer and Warner. In 1859, Ellis S. Archer left the firm and William F. Miskey and William O. B. Merrill joined as partners. The firm was primarily a manufacturer of gasoliers.

Patrick Miller Henry, a grandson of Patrick Henry, in October 1859 personally attested to the exact likeness of the copy made by the firm. He said: "I have seen the terra-cotta likeness of my grandfather, Patrick Henry …. I have seen the bronze copy of it, which has since been executed by Messrs. Warner, Miskey, and Merrill, and have no hesitation in saying that it is an exact copy of the original bust."
