Formed in 1899 to play in the Perth First Rate Junior Competition the Perth Football Club were invited into the WAFL League competition mid-way through the 1899 season after the Rovers Club were unable to continue. Perth Football Club were based at the WACA Ground for its first 60 years where it played virtually all home games. Perth won their first Coastal Premiership on a protest in 1907, the same year the first England cricket team toured Perth. In 1959 Perth Football Club moved to Lathlain Park.
