Peter Wall was instrumental in establishing the Mennonite Community in Virgil, Niagara-on-the-Lake. He began purchasing foreclosed agricultural properties in the area. He then subdivided them into plots that were 10-15 acres and sold them at a reduced price to Mennonites wishing to settle in the area. This developed Virgil into a tender fruit and vegetable growing community.
