Song Monggyu’s graduation picture from Yonhui College (1941). He and Yoon Dongju were first cousins, grew up in the same village, and attended most schools together. Song Monggyu returned to Longjing after being put on the blacklist of people under surveillance from his demonstrations for independence in Beijing and Shanghai. After this, he left his hometown, enrolled in Yonhui College, and began his dormitory life together with Yoon Dongju. After graduating, Song Monggyu went to Kyoto Imperial University as an international student but was arrested along with the poet in July 1943 and sentenced to two years in prison. Following the death of the poet, Song Monggyu passed away in March 1945 at the Fukuoka Prison.
