Photograph of the Arco de la Amistad included in the album of photographic miniatures by José María Eguren from the archives of the National Library of Peru.
In 1924 the Arco de la Amistad was inaugurated, a gift from the spanish colony to Peru as part of the celebrations for the centenary of the peruvian independence. This was located at the beginning of what was once called Leguía Avenue (today Arequipa Avenue) at the intersection with 28 de Julio Avenue, in the urbanization of Santa Beatriz, Lima. In 1938 it was demolished citing traffic problems. In 2001 it was rebuilt, this time in the Park of Friendship María Graña Ottone in the district of Santiago de Surco, also in Lima.
