Photograph by José María Eguren (Lima, 1874-1942), taken by himself. This image is part of the album of photographic miniatures by José María Eguren, in the funds of the National Library of Peru.
Eguren was a multifaceted Peruvian artist, mainly known for his poetic work with collections of poems such as "Simbólicas" and "La canción de las figuras". He also wrote short essays, practiced painting -drawing, watercolor- in small format, and took photographs with a camera that he made himself, experimenting with developing it. He was recognized by some intellectuals of his time, such as José Carlos Mariátegui (Moquegua 1894 - Lima, 1930) and Pedro Zulen (Lima, 1889-1925).
