Photograph of a dock in the district of Barranco, in Lima. It is included in the album of photographic miniatures by José María Eguren from the archives of the National Library of Peru.
Since the end of the 19th century, the beaches or sea baths of the Barranco district have become an attraction for wealthier social classes. To access the beaches, various structures were built, such as the funicular or the pier. The latter consisted of a structure that entered above the sea, made of wood, with a central gazebo and stairs to access the water. It was demolished in the 1970s.
