Up until the late 1990s, the city of Huelva still suffered from frequent flooding during periods of heavy rain that coincided with high tide. The geography of the city, its proximity to the sea, and heavy rainfall meant that these scenes were fairly typical. This image shows one of the city's main avenues completely underwater. This area of the city can still flood now and again when the rain is particularly heavy.
