Snuff bottles were often used during the Qing dynasty. Owned by doctors, they contained a mixture of tobacco and other leaves as an herbal medicine. A horse often symbolizes the desire for a government post and also the desire for this post to arrive swiftly. With a rider, a noble rank is expected instead of a scholarly or government role.
