Legnica, Poland

The Renaissance castle portal in the eastern wing of the castle was built in 1533 during the reign of the Duke of Legnica, Frederick II (1480–1547) and has survived in its basic shape to our times. On the outer side of the gate's balustrade, there are portrait medallions of the prince and his wife, Zofia Brandenburg (1485–1537), and between them the coat of arms of the Silesian Piasts. The graphics also document the plates above and below the coat of arms, destroyed in 1945.
