The son of Jacopo, Domenico, inherited his father’s heavily overworked studio. An uneven painter, he did have moments of surprising quality. This sensitive portrait is datable to 1588, when a studio copy was made. Marco Pasqualigo, a young Venetian functionary, was age twenty four and chief of police of Brescia at the time.
