Portrait of Pase Guarienti

This wonderful portrait gives us the idea of a complete set of Renaissance armor as worn by Pase Guarienti, a Veronese nobleman who served as cavalry captain, as the inscription informs us. He proudly shows off his splendid, costly parade armor, much too precious and too light to have been worn in battle. It consists of a helmet with neck guard, a collar of three strips, two asymmetrical shoulder guards, a breastplate, and leg guards.
